Tickets are pay what you can.
Patrons purchasing tickets at a higher price point can do so with the understanding that their ticket price is helping to subsidize the lower ticket prices, and in doing so, are making this show more accessible for others.

Get ready for a night of crack-ups and community at the second Sit Down Comedy Show, presented by The Disability Collective in partnership with The Theatre Centre! Hosted by the brilliant and award-winning comedian Courtney Gilmour, this event promises to be a night of non-stop laughter, celebrating the comedic talents and unique perspectives of the disability community. Four disabled comedians – Michael McCreary, Ken Hall, Rosani Christy & Robert Haughton – will take the stage to deliver a night you won’t forget.

COVID-19
Policies:

The safety of our audience, artists, volunteers, and staff is our number one priority.

Masks are required for all audience members but may be removed temporarily for drinking and eating. Masks are not required in the shared spaces of the venue, including the lobby and washrooms.

Masks should fit snugly against the face without gaps; cloth masks should have at least two layers of fabric. Neck gaiters and bandanas are not permitted. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Exemptions are always made for access or medical reasons.

COURTNEY GILMOUR

Courtney Gilmour is a JUNO nominated stand up comedian, television writer, and finalist on Canada’s Got Talent. She is one of Canada's most unique voices and sought after comedy talents, named by NOW Magazine as “one of the top 10 stage artists to watch”. She delivered a breakout performance at the 2017 Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal by winning the Homegrown Comics Competition and filming a set for Kevin Hart's LOL Network. Courtney's victory at the 2017 Just For Laughs Homegrown was the first by a female comic in the 19 year history of the event. In 2018 she topped it with televised performances at CBC’s Winnipeg and Halifax comedy festivals, as well as a triumphant return to Montreal to tape a set for The Comedy Network at Just for Laughs. 

Courtney is a regular at the Just For Laughs festival with multiple headlining shows at Just For Laughs Toronto, a filmed TV set for CBC’s New Wave of Stand Up in Vancouver, and many appearances at the JFL flagship festival in Montreal including a televised performance on The Howie Mandel All Stars Gala airing on The CW Network. 

Her solo Fringe show “‘Congratulations!’ Stories of Achievement, Embarrassment, & Self-Worth” debuted at the Toronto Fringe Festival in summer 2019 and was met with sold out shows as well as multiple awards including Best of Fringe and Patrons’ Pick, earning her three extra performance runs and acceptance into the Brighton Fringe Festival in the UK. 

She has written for and made appearances on This Hour Has 22 Minutes, CBC’s The Debaters, Space Dragon & Kim, and CBC’S Humour Resources alongside Jon Dore and Sarah Silverman, and most recently she can be seen on two episodes of CTV Comedy’s Roast Battle Canada. In 2022 Courtney competed in the second season of Canada’s Got Talent, during her semi-finals performance she got the judges’ vote to go straight to the finals as one of the top 8. You can catch her touring around North America and hear her regularly on SiriusXM and CBC LOL. 

Her debut stand up album “Let Me Hold Your Baby” was released under Comedy Records in 2022 and was nominated for a JUNO award in 2023 for Comedy Album Of The Year. In 2024 she released her sophomore album “Wonder Woman”.

MICHAEL MCCREARY

Michael McCreary is an autistic comedian, actor, author and TEDX speaker who’s been performing stand-up comedy since age 13. In the past 10 years, he has performed stand-up shows and keynote addresses in every province in Canada – plus the Yukon - and across the United States. He has done shows for tech giants IBM and SAP International; for universities such as McMaster, Queen’s, McGill, Montana State U and the University of Texas; and for many agencies and autism organizations: Autism Ontario, Autism Canada, Autism Nova Scotia, Autism Asperger’s Friendship Society (Calgary), Firefly Autism (Denver), Autism Yukon, Geneva Centre for Autism, Autism Society Newfoundland & Labrador, Pacific Autism Family Network; and for schools and school boards across the continent.

Michael has also written the book “Funny, You Don’t Look Autistic” (Annick Press); hosted the Autism Ontario video “Autism: See the Potential; has consulted on the TV show “Ransom” to ensure the authenticity of a character with autism and has been featured on The National and on CBC Radio’s “Laugh Out Loud!”

He was the featured comic in Commander Chris Hadfield’s Generator show at Massey Hall in Toronto in 2016.

He played the role of a neurodivergent character "Eggs" in the TV series Astrid & Lilly Save the World (SYFY Network) and he can also be seen in Season 2 of Ginny & Georgia (Netflix). In May 2022 he was part of the closing Gala at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival for CBC. In May 2024 he performed in the All Access show at the Halifax Comedy Festival.

He is currently working on a play, a new book, a documentary and getting his driver's license.

KEN HALL

Ken Hall is a Dora Mavor Moore Award nominee, Canadian Comedy Award winner (Best Breakout Artist) and multiple CCA award nominee, including Comedic Artist of the Year.

Ken plays the lovable Herb and provides motion capture as the body of Pogo in Netflix's THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY and has appeared in numerous film and television roles including two seasons as, Jeff The Grey, on TBS’s hit series PEOPLE OF EARTH and has appeared as a guest on CONAN.

Ken is also one-half of the critically acclaimed, comedic clownprov duo, 2-MAN NO-SHOW, with his comedic soulmate, Isaac Kessler, and has had the pleasure to work for CIRQUE DU SOLEIL. 

Ken co-created & co-instructs a 6 week course on creative play, aptly named, Brunch!, at Sweet Action Theatre as well as, SpeakEasy, a course that combines public speaking and play theory.  Ken also teaches Public Speaking at The Second City - a course he created and developed, as well as Clownprov at Bad Dog Theatre. In his spare time, he teaches Storytelling at CB PRO and improv at The Social Capital Theatre and with The Assembly. Ken was awarded the Frank McAnulty Award for Faculty Instructor of the Year 2019 at The Second City.

ROBERT HAUGHTON

Robert is a Deaf performer and proud father of four who loves using comedy to connect with people. With years of experience in theatre, he combines humour and storytelling to share his unique perspective. As an artist and mental health therapist, Robert brings heart, wit, and creativity to every performance. Get ready to laugh and be inspired by his one-of-a-kind style!

ROSANI CHRISTY

Rosani Christy is a Toronto based Tamil comedian whose comedy has been described as anecdotal and witty. She has been performing since 2017, when she graduated from a standup comedy course at The Second City and has never looked back. She has been featured on Alt Dot Comedy Lounge, The Reel Abilities' Comedy Night and appeared on Breakfast Television.
